Retro anthology reprints Edmond Hamilton’s 1931 novelette “Monsters of Mars”
The Clayton Astounding Stories: Planetoids of Peril (2010), a new retro anthology selected and published by the energetic and prolific G. W. Thomas of the blog Dark Worlds, can be purchased through Lulu.com. The third volume in a series dedicated to the Astounding Stories of Super-Science, edited by Harry Bates between 1930 and 1933, this anthology contains “Monsters of Mars”, a novelette written by Edmond Hamilton that is now in the public domain. Originally published in the April 1931 issue and based on the science of the age of radio, “The Monsters of Mars” revolves around three humans who visit the Red Planet and unexpectedly find hostile Martians that are eager to conquer Earth.
