Prompted by the recent Flash Fiction Friday’s Cycle 24 challenge, writer J. J. Ulm penned “Queen of Mars” (2011), a parody of the early 20th-century pulp sci-fi genre. Here’s the first line: “Saliandra, beautiful human Queen of Mars, glared down the shaft of her spear at the beastly creature impaled upon it.”
A bookworm who now takes her writing seriously, J. J. Ulm lives in Ohio and is fascinated by office supplies, out-of-print sci fi/fantasy authors, and Transformers.
