New flash fiction: "Fertilizer" by Duncan Shields

The free SF story site 365 tomorrows has an interesting piece of flash fiction titled “Fertilizer” (2011), penned by staff writer Duncan Shields. It’s about NASA, a convicted murderer, and the role of Mars in the criminal justice system. Here’s the first line: “No one misses prisoners with life sentences.”

Duncan Shields, a Canadian, is a computer animator for video games. He hopes one day to have the attention span and the time to write a novel.
