Brian Murphy of the blog The Silver Key recently posted an excellent review of one of my favorite works of Martian science fiction and fantasy: The Sword of Rhiannon (1949), a classic sword-and-planet tale written by Leigh Brackett that chronicles the harrowing adventures of a Martian archaeologist named Matthew Carse on the Red Planet.The Sword of Rhiannon was originally published in the June 1949 issue of Thrilling Wonder Stories as "Sea-Kings of Mars" and was reprinted in 2009 by Paizo Publishing.
