New novel: Heirs of Mars by Joseph Robert Lewis

Indie author, editor, web developer, graphic artist, and publications designer Joseph Robert Lewis just e-published his new science fiction novel Heirs of Mars (October 2010) as a Kindle edition through Amazon and Amazon UK. Dark and gritty, Heirs of Mars is about artificial intelligence, cloning, robotics, mortality, racism, classism, sexism, adoption, terminal illness, terrorism, living in a pseudo-communist police state, racing homemade motorcycles on alien planets, and no-holds-barred warfare. Here’s the promotional blurb:

The dream that was Mars has become a nightmare for the children born there.

To save New Troy from falling birth rates, Asher Radescu secretly clones people in the back of his old truck. To save New Troy from despair, Claudia Cruz hosts the most popular racing show on two worlds. And to save the city from destruction, they’ll rally persecuted cloners, resurrected colonists, and racing celebrities to fight homicidal AIs.

HEIRS OF MARS follows the lives of six men and women through the final days of the first war on Mars, a war between humans, machines, and the resurrected souls who aren’t truly one or the other.

But even if they survive the war, there is no escape from the red planet.

Lewis has posted some accompanying free bonus content on his website/blog: a cast of characters; a short story, “To Reign in Heaven” (Smashwords, 2010), set nineteen years before the events of the novel; a short story, “To Serve in Hell” (Smashwords, 2010) set one day before the events of the novel; and two interviews (#1, #2).
