Sneak peek at Marvel’s late 1970s Barsoom after being bleached and reprinted by Dark Horse Comics

Comic Book Resources has a nice six-page preview of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ John Carter of Mars, Warlord of Mars (March 2011), a forthcoming 632-page volume by Dark Horse Comics that collects and reprints all 28 issues of the beloved John Carter, Warlord of Mars series, plus the three annuals, that were originally published by Marvel Comics in the late 1970's.

Sadly, Dark Horse has bleached Barsoom, as all of the beautiful, colorful interior artwork by Gil Kane and Dave Cockrum is now a drab black and white.

  1. I know they swapped the cover title treatment out to match the other comics they are compiling, but I wish they would have kept that intact as well. I'm sure I'll still pick it up, but it sure is a shame they dropped the color :(

  2. It's a nice collector's item, but I cannot imagine reading 632 pages of the b&w.
