Actor Leslie Nielsen dead at age 84, starred in Mars episode of 1950’s Sci-Fi TV series Tales of Tomorrow

The New York Times reports that film and television actor Leslie Nielsen died yesterday, Sunday, November 28, 2010, at his home in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Born in Saskatchewan, Canada, in 1926, he was 84 years old. Perhaps best known for his comic roles in comedy films like Airplane! (1980) and The Naked Gun (1988), Nielsen also starred in “Appointment on Mars” (1952), an episode from the first season of ABC’s science fiction television series Tales of Tomorrow, in which three astronauts land on the Red Planet, hoping to profit from finding valuable minerals for a mining company.
