Before the 1954 film Devil Girl from Mars, there was the 1935 novel Devil-Man from Mars
Nearly twenty years before the British science fiction cult film Devil Girl from Mars (1954) landed on the big screen, a little-known science fiction / fantasy novel titled Devil-Man from Mars (1935), by British crime writer James Corbett, was published in London. Revolving around a Martian ambassador who visits Earth after receiving communication from a British scientist, the novel was mentioned in the July 6, 1935, issue of the Evening Post newspaper in New Zealand: “Devil-Man from Mars, by James Corbett, describes the visit to this planet of a being from Mars who uses a propulsive ray to carry him on his long journey. It is a frankly imaginative tale, but none the less very exciting."
