1970’s Marvel comic art: John Carter, Warlord of Mars

Dynamite Entertainment’s forthcoming Warlord of Mars (October 2010) comic book adaptation and expansion of beloved pulp author Edgar Rice Burroughs’ fantastical science fiction novel A Princess of Mars (1912) reminds me of this gorgeous Flickr gallery of cover art for the 28-issue John Carter, Warlord of Mars comic book series published in the late 1970’s by Marvel Comics. Issue #11 (April 1978), pictured here, is easily the most recognizable of the 28 covers.
